Remember, Witchapalooza is about much more than witches, ghosts, and goblins. It’s about things that could be, but aren’t as well.
Steampunk is something that many people recognize, but don’t really know the name for so we want to help you get some basic idea of what Steampunk really is.
Imagine if electricity was still rudimentary and instead steam power was the dominant force. If clothing had stayed in the Victorian era and the wild west while advancing through the days. Steampunk also has a solid following as more and more people come to know what it means. Steampunk, like beauty, is not something you can easily describe, but you know it when you see it.
Imagine large brass robots that run on cables and steam power rather than batteries and motors, wind up watches rather than digital, and goggles with magnifying glasses rather than binoculars and you can start to get the idea of what Steampunk is all about.
There have been many movies that involved Steampunk that people can identify. Wild West with Will Smith is a good example. ATo the left here you can see the large mechanical spider that is all powered by gears, cables and steam.
One great, but little known sample of Steampunk in action would be this great video called “A Gentlemen’s Duel” You will see that the fight itself takes place with machines that are indicative of what Steampunk truly is. Enjoy.
